The Bitter Way

In Israel, where it is virtually impossible for non-Jews to acquire citizenship, most migrants are Catholics from the Philippines. Hundreds of children born there have no legal status and are at constant risk of being arrested and deported from the country. Linked to the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the Hebrew-speaking Catholic community provides financial and moral support to these children. It also organises cultural events to raise awareness amongst the Israeli public of their plight. This documentary delves into the daily life of this little-known community based in the heart of the Holy City. It follows the long-term work of priests and ordinary parishioners, working closely with the children and their families. What place is there for Catholics in the State of Israel? Environ 45 films documentaires de 52 minutes sont coproduits chaque année par KTO, qui en diffuse au total 150. Une partie d'entre eux est disponible sur Internet. La chaîne privilégie des documents mettant en valeur une vision chrétienne de l'homme, une lecture des questions de société au regard de la doctrine sociale de l'Église, une (re)découverte du patrimoine culturel chrétien. Les documentaires sont aussi l'occasion de découvrir des grandes figures du christianisme, à travers des portraits ou des récits, et de partir à la rencontre des communautés chrétiennes à travers le monde. Ces films sont régulièrement remarqués dans la presse et sélectionnés dans les festivals.
